The Paloma
Paloma means “dove” in Spanish, the symbol for peace. This Paloma is sure to offer you a little peace and relaxation - in the form of tequila and grapefruit juice. The Paloma is also the official drink of Mexico. This is a super cool sipper for a super hot night, like tonight is supposed to be. Now… some people like to rim the edge of the glass in lime juice and dip it in salt, like a margarita, but I prefer not to; I think it’s much more refreshing without. But as always, you’re the bartender AND patron, make it your way.

1 Tbsp Liquid Sweetener (Simple Syrup or Pure Maple Syrup)

1 Tbsp Lime Juice

Ice
Garnish (optional)
Mint, Basil, Lemon Balm, even a marigold from the garden
Lime Wedge
Combine liquid sweetener, juices and tequila in a cocktail mixer and shake until well combined. pour over ice and club soda. Garnish if desired. Drink immediately and ENJOY.
Helpful hints, tips and tricks for this recipe…
1.
Liquid sweeteners are SUPER handy for cocktails and iced tea or coffee. Simple syrup is just that. Simple, flavorless syrup. Take equal parts white granulated sugar and water, bring to a boil, turn off. Cool. Store (mason jar, perfect). Use. When I don’t have simple syrup, my go to is pure, Grade A, Vermont maple syrup. In small quantities, in cocktails, it has no flavor. Just adds sweetness. And not Log Cabin. I mean the good stuff.
2.
I always keep my booze at room temperature. This way, when it hits the ice there is a little melting that helps to meld the flavors in the cocktail AND soften the blow of the first sip of alcohol. The face pucker. We’ve all been there.
